If I had to use one word to describe Chez Charlotte it would be ‘divine’. Charlotte is just as lovely as the beautiful vintage clothing she has in her collection. After hosting me (for several hours!) at a recent Melbourne trunk show I had found many treasures to take home. Thoughtfully curated and exceptional quality, the Chez Charlotte experience is a complete joy.

I have always felt like vintage clothing might resemble a seedy 1990’s back-lane, op-shop. That the clothes would all smell of mothballs, or worse, body odour!!. Chez Charlotte totally turns this concept upside down. I love how she knows the heritage of each piece. I love her style and how she has curated the entire range of quality and storied pieces. My favourite purchase was a chic, 1960s, geometric dress coat - I wear it over jeans and a white t-shirt and trainers or with black trousers and heels. It arrived beautifully pressed and wrapped. I was thrilled. In this day of waste and in the search for sustainable great looking fashion - Chez Charlotte ticks so many boxes for me.

I was invited to a Chez Charlotte trunk show by my best girlfriend. On a blissfully warm Melbourne afternoon, we walked into the parlour of Charlotte's vintage utopia. The curated collection spanning the decades and every shade and shape of woman hung marvellously on the walls, windows, and garment racks. Charlotte has meticulous taste. Every carefully selected piece is rich in history, masterfully constructed in the very best fabrics, and designed to make the wearer feel elegant, beautiful and especially unique. We spent hours and hours trying things on, chatting about fashion and food and frivolity. I chose two pieces to take home. The first was a two piece silk dress and matching coat that I fell in love with, not just because it was utterly beautiful but also for its story and provenance, which made it all the more special. The second was a black and white evening dress that immediately gave me the sense it belonged to me. Charlotte insistently offered the additional service of taking the hem up for me to ensure it fitted me perfectly. Charlotte is now my number one purveyor of fine vintage in Melbourne.
